The HS Mock Trial team participated in round one of a competition held as a BOCES region competition. The top six teams from the competition will continue on to round two where they will compete against teams from other BOCES regions.

In Mock Trial, each team consists of two lawyers (taking turns representing the prosecution and defense) as well as witnesses. The team is given the prompt for the case. Before attending the regional competition, Mr. Flint, the club advisor, assists with the decision for the best approach for winning the case. There are two trials per round where each team has to represent one party for each trial.

Area lawyers donate their time by representing the judge in the case. A score is given for the round based on their performance with a verdict given at the end. Winning the trial is part of the scoring but the overall performance score determines the winner of the round.

The Dansville team will know if they advance to the next round later this week.
