Pony Express 7th Grade Summer Orientation Program

The Pony Express Program is an orientation program in August open to all 7th grade students to assist them in the transition to the HS building.  The program connects 7th grade students with student leaders from 11th & 12th grade, who assist, listen, advise, & bond with them. This program is specially designed for our 7th graders to ease the transition to high school.

The Pony Express Program provides 7th Graders:

  • small-group ratios which promote positive connections (approximately 5 students: 1 leader)
  • connections with classmates and social time
  • team-building games
  • their course schedules and locker assignments before the 1st day of classes
  • a free lunch
  • the opportunity to get their schedule early and visit all of their classrooms.
  • practice locating and opening their locker prior to the 1st day of classes
  • check-ins throughout the year with their student leaders
If you have questions about the program, please call the DHS main office:  (585) 335-4010.
